Band History:

For a bit of brief history - this organization was formed in 1958 as the North Central Fireman's Junior band. We became the Whalley Legion Junior Band in 1963, when the legion donated space at it's annex building for our band functions. We have been the official band of Surrey, B.C. since 1969.

The primary performing group was a marching band with the inclusion of a concert band and dance band over the years. Only the concert band has operated continually since the band's formation.

Currently we operate a Community Concert Band and a 30's and 40's Swing Band. We have removed our "youth only" age restrictions and opened our doors to welcome musicians of all ages.

We see our mission as a fairly straightforward one. This organization is dedicated to providing music for both the musicians and the listening public of Surrey and surrounding areas. For our musicians, we wish to provide challenging and interesting charts to practice and perform so we can all have a place to enjoy our passion for music. For the listening public, we wish to promote their interest and enjoyment for this type of performing group. We hope to represent Surrey and Canada, as in the past, with a world class-performing group. With these goals in mind, no matter how far we get, if we have some fun on they way, then we have succeeded.
